Please wear old clothes, strong shoes, work boots or wellies, waterproofs may also be useful in bad weather. Also, please bring a packed lunch and something to drink. Summer Tasks 2021

Rough Guide to Task Difficulty
Easy: Light work such as pruning, planting, weeding, not much walking, mostly flat terrain.
Medium: Digging, sawing branches, some wheel barrowing, could be working on hillsides or uneven terrain.
Hard: Heavy digging, tree felling, barrowing heavy materials, could be hilly or muddy terrain.

Sunday 19th September – Longsight Park, Bolton, BL2 3JT
Task: Path Restoration
Difficulty: Hard

The second of 2 visits to sort out the park’s muddy paths.
Rick will be picking up from outside the Sweet Green Tavern, Crook Street, Bolton BL3 6DD, at 9:45am, contact Tom/Rick you need a lift. Face masks must be worn while in the vehicle.

Sunday 3rd October – Ousels Nest Quarry LNR, Bromley Cross, BL7 9AW
Task: Meadow Clearance
Difficulty: Medium to Hard

Want to mow a meadow? As the Quarry’s meadow winds down we need to remove all of the arisings to reduce the build up of nutrients in the soil and to shake out seeds for next year.

Our monthly indoor Zoom meeting live from the comfort of your own home.

Sunday 17th October – Doffcocker Lodge LNR, Bolton, BL1 5QD
Task: Island Work and Willow Harvest
Difficulty: Hard

This has nothing to do with Lord Summerisle and no wicker men are being built (unless Francis insists). No, this is is our annual tern island habitat tidy up and willow coppice , all in one package. The willow stems harvested will be used for hurdle making and other things.
