Task Calendar


Please wear old clothes, strong shoes, work boots or wellies, waterproofs may also be useful in bad weather. Also, please bring a packed lunch and something to drink. Rough Guide to Task Difficulty
Easy: Light work such as pruning, planting, weeding, not much walking, mostly flat terrain.
Medium: Digging, sawing branches, some wheel barrowing, could be working on hillsides or uneven terrain.
Hard: Heavy digging, tree felling, barrowing heavy materials, could be hilly or muddy terrain.

Wednesday 8th December – Indoor/Remote Meeting
We will be attempting to hold a Zoom meeting at the Sweet Green Tavern as the last one worked out pretty ok. So turn up in person at the Sweet Green at 8:00pm or make a virtual appearance on Zoom at 8:00pm. It would be interesting to know who will be attending in person or in pixels, lets us know by your preferred method of communication.

Sunday 12th December – Doffcocker Lodge LNR, Bolton.
Task: Willow Management.
Difficulty: Hard.
Christmas is coming, the willow is getting worried. We will be harvesting willow in one of Rick’s grottos so he can make a sleigh and deliver presents to all the hardworking elves. It is important that you wear a Santa hat on task to show that you’ve been naughty but nice. We Will have our cake and eat it.

Sunday 26th December – Doffcocker Lodge LNR, Bolton.
Task: Willow Management.
Difficulty: Hard.
Christmas has been and gone, hope you got what you asked for, we will be harvesting more willow in another one of Rick’s grottos. If you still have your Santa hat (and why wouldn’t you?), you can use it again today in memory of Christmas past.

Winter Tasks 2022

Sunday 9th January – The Barlow, Edgworth
Task: Hedge Laying
Difficulty: Medium.
Our first full on, all day, all you can eat hedge laying day. If you’ve not done it before prepare to learn the noble art of bill hook and stake. From Hedge Jedi’s to Pleach Padawans all are welcome.

Sunday 23rd January – Doffcocker Lodge LNR, Bolton.
Task: Reedbed Management.
Difficulty: Hard.
Hard core conservation on one of Doffcocker’s reedbeds (or is it reed beds?). These are massively important habitats and support hundreds of species from bugs to bittern. Bittern have been seen at Doffcocker but don’t stay, can we change their minds?
